Barnhardt gets 10th at Bristol

The TBS Racing crew set out to Bristol, NY for the NYS Road Race Championships held in our own backyard this year. Craig racing in the Cat 3 field, Tim, Tom, Ben, and Bryan in the Cat 4 field. It was a sunny morning with some clouds and Egypt Hill awaited.

The day started with a fast paced climb up Egypt that found Ben in the lead group, Tim in the first chase group, and Tom in the second chase group. Tim's chase group caught the lead group on the valley road reuniting him with Ben for a while. Meanwhile Tom was organizing the chase group behind.

In the 3 field, Craig had made a move on Egypt and went into a breakaway with Jose (Shikluna / The Hive) early in the race and they built up a sizeable gap.

Second time around for the 4s Ben charged up the climb with the leaders and Tim was one of a handful of riders to fall into no man's land. Tom was still in pursuit with a group.

Craig found himself in a good spot mid-race still with Jose, but started to feel all the work that he was putting in. He let Jose go and went back to the pack. At this point the weather turned and Craig folded his hand, going from off the front to the back of the main group.

Back in the 4 field, Ben put in an attack at the top of Egypt the third time up with a few riders and formed a small break that was caught on the decent. Tim was caught on the last decent by Tom's chase group. Ben put in another move approaching the final climb that was swept up and overtaken. He placed a hard earned 10th despite multiple efforts to better the result. Very well done indeed! Tim and Tom tried to make a few moves on their group, but with little left in the tank, they sat in for the finish.

A tough course and tough weather for tough men!
