Double Up: Weichmann and Rohr win in Erie Races

The team had a unique opportunity to do two races within a 1/4 mile of each other and 1 hour between them in Erie, PA. A full morning of racing and having some fun was too good to pass up! Even our very own Vince Lorenz came to do some short races!

Race #1: ECBC Training Series

The ECBC race was on a 2.7 mile circuit with a medium sized 6% climb on it halfway through each lap. The race was only 5 laps so there was limited time to make moves. TBS set up on the front and simply drove the pace.

On the 4th lap Tom was able to attack off the front with TBS controlling / being the majority of the riders left. A rider from Competative Gear took up the challenge of trying to bring him back, unfortunately he was the only one attempting to work. During all of this Alex jumped off the front of the group to help Tom.

Approaching the last time up the climb, Alex and Tom had the gap they needed to win (Tom 1st and Alex 2nd). Tim attacked on the final climb to go off the front and create a large enough gap to hold on for 3rd place. The group came in shortly behind with Andrew P and Andrew D taking 4th and 5th.

Race #2: PICC Training Series

This week PICC was on a new course. A business park ring with some slight ups and downs, rolling terrain. The team strategy was to "play it by ear" due to the unfamiliarity with the loop.

Again TBS setup near / on the front along with a contingent of Hollyloft riders. The team started shooting attacks off the front of the group. This trend continued for the entirity of the race. Brian, Tom, Tim, Alex, Barry, Andrew D, and even Vince all took turns attacking and counter attacking. Finally one move by Tom was able to stick for a good amount of time, joined by a Hollyloft rider and then Alex.

Tom came back to the group and after a lap or two of Alex off the front with the Hollyloft rider Brian took the opportunity to jump across the gap. Alex attacked the small group and Brian followed. The Holly loft rider was unable to hold on and cam eback to the group.

The two were able to hang on to the end, Brian 1st and Alex 2nd (putting in two awesome races helping the team leaders for the day!). In the pack sprint Tim, Tom, and Andrew were nipped at the line by Daniel (unattached) in the race for 3rd.

Another great day of racing for the team down in Erie and tons of fun as well!
